Tutorial System - List Of Categories

We at Biorust pride ourselves in the quality of our many tutorials. Although we mainly dwell on Adobe Photoshop there are, of course, many other applications out there, and we intend to cover more of them in due course. In the meantime, though, here is a brief summary of the applications we do cover:

Photoshop Tutorials (split by type)

Comment: Often described as the cornerstone of the computer-aided design industry, Adobe Photoshop (and its sister application, Imageready), are utterly invaluable tools useful for simple photo re-touches, and complex original designs alike.

Macromedia Flash
Application: Macromedia Flash • Tutorials: 9
Comment: Adobe Flash is a worldwide recognized format for the publication of animated vector-based graphics. From comics to advertisements, Flash is a rich media format that can offer sound, interactivity, and entertainment across multiple platforms and at sensible filesizes.

Blender 3D
Application: Blender 2.32+ • Tutorials: 6
Comment: Blender is an open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. It is available for board range of operating systems (i.e. Windows, Linux, Sun, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, etc).  Its FREE and very well featured.

Maxon Cinema 4D
Application: Cinema 4D • Tutorials: 6
Comment: Cinema 4D is a premium-level 3D application at an entry-level price.  With an intuitive interface and many exciting features such as particle-based effects, character animation, and an extensive range of plug-ins, Cinema 4D is quickly becoming very popular amongst virtually everyone!

Web Technologies
Application: PHP/MySQL/ASP/Apache • Tutorials: 33
Comment: Killer designs are, of course, only half the story. Once your interfaces are fully sliced and working in HTML, you may want to incorporate database connectivity, prevent hotlinkers, and/or add some simple scripting to personalize your site for individual users.

Tutorials System - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use your techniques in my work?

Of course you can! These tutorials wouldn't be much use if you were prohibited from putting your new skills into practice! We expect no payment of any kind for these tutorials, and they are offered totally free of any legal or moral obligation to you. A link back to BioRUST on your website (if you have one), would always be appreciated though... ;)

Why are the Photoshop .PSDs copyrighted?

The downloadable .PSDs we provide for the vast majority of the tutorials are free for your own use. We do ask, however, that you do not distribute the files yourself and/or any minor variations thereof without permission. The main reason we offer these files is to provide you with a repository of pre-fabricated effects, and perhaps a starting point for more complex designs. Distributing the originals as your own work is hardly creative and will certainly not enhance your skills as a digital artist.

Can I publish your tutorials on my website?

NO - DEFINITELY NOT! We don't mind, of course, any form of link back to BioRUST with maybe the odd thumbnail or two, but taking any one of the tutorials whole and supplanting it on your website is theft, and will be dealt with harshly. If you really like the tutorials and want to advertise them, why not just hyperlink directly to their URL?

Can I translate your tutorials into my language?

Of course you can! In this case we don't even mind if you host the tutorial text/images on your own website, but we *MUST* be credited as the original creator of the tutorial, and a hyperlink added back to BioRUST. Additionally, please note that this only applies to genuine languages spoken in the real world, and the tutorial text must be PERSONALLY translated (not using babelfish or anything similar).

Is it possible to submit some of my own tutorials?

Yes!   We love to add new and original tutorials to our ever-growing database! If you would like to submit a tutorial, fill in the contact form with as much detail as you can manage and we'll get back to you with details.  Or, if you prefer, you can submit your tutorial to the tutorials submission forum. There's no need to stick to a specific format when submitting, as we will do all the boring work for you if needed... and fully credit you as the author on your tutorial pages if your submission is accepted.

Can I request a tutorial?

Of course you can! We make no guarantees we will be able to get around to your specific tutorial in any given timeframe, but we listen to our audience, and if there is demand out there for a guide to a specific technique/effect, we will be only too glad to offer our assistance. Just ask via the contact form or post in the correct forum and we'll get right back to you...
